Private Duty Nursing / Personal Care Services

Program Overview

All requests for Private Duty Nursing/Personal Care Services require prior authorization approval through the Agency for Health Care Administration’s (AHCA) contractor, KePRO, before services can be rendered in the recipient’s place of residence.

Senate Bill 1986, passed during the 2009 Florida Legislative Session, authorized AHCA to implement reforms to the Medicaid Home Health Program. This bill strengthens the requirements for authorization under the Medicaid home health program, and identifies parameters under which AHCA can pay for home health services.
